Rex are known as the "King of Rabbits" (Rex is the Latin word for King). Their fur is like velvet and was first discovered in France. The original color was Castor and since then, several varieties have been approved.
Rex are considered a 4 class breed. They are shown by varieties. They must win their variety or opposite of variety to be eligible to go up for Best and Best Opposite of Breed. Varieties (in order of showing): Amber, Black, Blue, Broken, Californian, Castor, Chinchilla, Chocolate, Lilac, Lynx, Opal, Otter, Sable, Seal, Red, and White The showroom classes and weights are as follows: * Senior Bucks- 6 months and older, 7.5 to 9.5 pounds * Senior Does - 6 months and older, 8 to 10.5 pounds * Junior Bucks - Under 6 months, under 8 pounds * Junior Does - Under 6 months, under 8.5 pounds * Information obtained from SOP and NRRC * |
